    That's the claim -- that all of the economic progress figures are completely fabricated, by special direction from the White House, in order to make Obama look good, when really everything is still completely in the tank.

    Except in the states where Republican governors are running for reelection, where everything is just beautiful (despite the Federal government's incompetence).

      analyzing 50 years worth of the jobs numbers reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  I put out some of the findings here last Sunday including the record we're about to break.

      About the cooked numbers: the BLS documents the sources of its data. The jobs numbers actually come from the states, and in some cases, local areas that are big enough to matter, like NYC. It's done that way because the states administer unemployment compensation and each one gathers detailed data about the number of employers, industry categories, size, etc.  If there was any cooking, that's where it would happen.  But there's no way that the numbers could be altered without showing up somewhere. This is like accounting that has to balance to the penny.
