The kinds of things Jerry Brown actually does as governor include so many wild divergences from his cultivated image as a competent liberal manager who takes the state's people's interests as his own over his long career in government (and his legacy from his father).
Aside from the fact that that's not a complete sentence, are you using "freak" in the pejorative, or otherwise?  Sounds like the former, but maybe not.

The fact that Brown has always been a maverick Dem doesn't define him as a freak, just one who's not afraid to think outside the box.  The idiotic "Governor Moonbeam" label was hung on him by Republican morons during his first governorship.  Is that the source of your insult?  (Republicans couldn't stand Brown's disdain for traveling in a gas-guzzling limo or living in the governor's mansion, even though both preferences saved tax dollars -- so much for Republican "thrift.")  The label was the result of Brown's suggestion that California send up its own satellite, an idea which history has determined to be not "freakish" (to use your appellation) but merely prescient.  I've long admired his willingness to take views and actions outside the political norm.  Look at California's current fiscal picture and tell me what's "freakish" about the results of Brown's current governorship.

The kind of mind that can encompass these multitudes is profoundly baffling.
Again... To which multitudes do you refer?  Multitudes of what?

Your comment is unfair, inaccurate and not worthy of consideration as it stands.
