As de Tocqueville once said, “When the past no longer illuminates the future, the spirit walks in darkness.” Prescient words, of course, and had they been heeded by the masses of the unerudite in 2008 and 2012, we all would have been spared the relentless mockery of democracy that is President Obama, who “walks in darkness” seemingly 24 hours a day, trampling the Constitution with his oversized feet, in the manner of an adolescent shortstop too awkward to turn a double play, finding himself constantly flailing to make the right move but always falling woefully short.
