they evolved in desert climates. Wild cats get most of their water from the meat they eat.

I used to put out water for my kitties, but these days I tend not to bother, since they don't really drink it (unless I've run out of wet food). They will sometimes demand that I run the tub for a moment and then they lap it up from off the drain. They do that about once a day, or once every other day.

You WANT me on that server! You NEED me on that server!

and always has. He gets only dry food and some crunchy treats.

Getting cats to get enough moisture in their diet is very important for kidney health, especially in the senior years.

If trees gave off WIFi signals, we would probably plant so many trees, we would save the planet. Too bad they only produce the oxygen we breathe.

      •  I hate to say this - (0+ / 0-)

but if he's drinking enormous amounts of water, one of the reasons could be kidney failure.

...which is reasonably common in cats (the last three cats I've had who died had that as the proximate cause of death).

I would suggest having your vet take a look, because if he is suffering from kidney failure, there also are lots of things that can be done to deal with it.

He's as healthy as a horse and has drunk lots of water since kitten hood. He's 11 this month.
