...if not for the right reasons. But I wonder if Brat has some public comment somewhere about the "international Jewish bankers conspiracy"? That would not surprise me.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

    •  A Marxist professor I had (10+ / 0-)

when I went back to college at nights in the 1980s, George Rawick, told me once that flipping former KKKers to the radical left was sometimes more easy that others because they knew something was deeply wrong but blamed the wrong people.  I have come to believe that he was wrong.   Maybe once in while, but right wing populism is the softer version of fascism, the building block.   National Socialism was built on similar views.  Remember the slogan set over teh entrances of Nazi concentration camps: Arbeit macht frei(Work will set you free).  The whole idea of "parasites" underlies the mindset.

The words are an echo of left-wing critiques, and as you say, sometimes even the loons get it right for the wrong reasons, but I don't think one can reach these people.

    •  Let's see how interested he is in either (15+ / 0-)

      (a) describing a workable theory of how to secure a conviction beyond reasonable doubt, (b) drafting new criminal laws, or (c) allocating resources to the SEC for enforcement.  If, as I strongly suspect, he supports none of these things, the obvious inference is it's empty, anti-cosmopolitan identity politics.  This is reinforced by the initial autopsies seem to think this tiny electorate (16% 2012 turnout) was driven mostly by opposition to immigration.

As to his record, I'm honestly giddy for the first time some reporter asks him about rape.  I don't think he'll do a good job answering the question!

      Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.

I would be willing to bet that within 30 minutes of the race being called professional gop campaign people were already talking to him about the things you don't say.

I see a lot of comments here about how the tea party people will self destruct, and I frankly dont think it will happen as easily as it jas before. They are learning from past mistakes far faster than can be considered good for any one else. I haven't seen to many crazy tea party candidates outside of very safe house districts and a few redder than red Senate seats.
