    pertaining to the Military.

    They are in the most sensitive meetings, when military missions are underway, are they not?

    They should have known, and they should have informed the nation. Their duty, after all is to the Nation and not merely to the Commander in Chief.

      But they are service chiefs and their control of fielded forces is limited to administrative actions. They know what is going on, but they don't call the shots during active missions, the geographic combatant commanders do.

      Constitutionally the military is headed by the CinC. I don't know of any reference that makes them duty bound to the "nation." If you do, let me know.
