The correlations are unmistakable. 296 million Americans held hostage by 4 million NRA members.

The real problem is that our politicians are afraid of the NRA because it would be "political suicide" to cross them. We need our representatives to do just that by putting their cushy jobs on the line to represent the American people. Hell, maybe they will wind up being re-elected by a grateful nation even without the NRA.

... NRA cannot win. Nor will it be able to take the toll it promises for office-holders who cross it.

2014 is HERE. Build up the Senate. Win back the House : 17 seats. Plus!

I'd like to convince them that doing the right thing is more important than getting reelected.

... to stay in office. None. Not even ... well, you know.

That "It's the right thing to do even if you lose" is not a good pitch to anyone who isn't retiring this term.

          •  In Australia, four legislators lost their (0+ / 0-)

seats when they pushed handing in automatic weapons which cut their massacres down to zero. They thought it was worth it.

I believe we must expect our legislators to represent us and not special interests.

... Manchin-Toomey who would switch if they thought it meant losing their seat.

The key is convincing legislators - Congress, I'm talking here; we'll never convert them in many states - that it's the gunnies who are the special-interest pleaders. And that they can effectively stanch the flow of weapons and limit their availability without trampling the reasonable interests of hunters, target practicers and bona fide collector/hobbyists.

We can't realistically ask Senators or Representatives to give up their offices for any single issue. (And I say that as someone who thinks Guns are one of the top four or five issues in every election until we win!)
