Grimes is an economic populist running in a deep red state - and she's winning. Clearly, she knows a little something more than you do about how to campaign. So she leaves the heavy lifting on Obamacare to Steve Beshear, a guy whose popularity is on par with McConnell's unpopularity. It's a fine campaign tactic and really shows how effective it can be to tag-team in states like this.

The fact is, Obamacare is a hot button issue connected to a president who's deeply unpopular in the state. Don't assume that her unwillingness to take a risk is synonymous with her lack of support. It means that she'd rather let someone more popular and with nothing to lose do the defending while she focuses on tugging at the heartstrings of ancestrally Democratic coal miners in eastern KY. Don't think for a minute that Grimes' campaign isn't in close contact with Beshear on this issue.
