  •  Very nice, but a less confrontational tact (4+ / 0-)

in the diary might go farther.
Everyone knows "Tel Aviv" is not the same as "Israel". Otherwise Netanyahu might have a 'job' standing on a soapbox in a park.
If you tried this in Jerusalem it would be a toss up who would have the bigger and louder wailing rending of garments freakout - the Palestinians or the Ultra-Orthodox. (My bet is on the Ultra-Os). Tho it might be funny to watch and see.

    •  You'd be surprised (0+ / 0-)

Likud received the 2nd most votes in Tel Aviv, only 2.5% less than Yesh Atid's 20%.

And I was at the Jerusalem gay pride parade last year, which marched from a park less than a mile from the old city to the Knesset building about 2 miles away.  I had classmates walk who walked all over the city wearing rainbow kippot (admittedly not into the Charedi areas, though).

Of course, they probably wouldn't have tried that in Beit Shemesh... :P

      Israel is a strange place.
