  •  Defer to the war mongers and start bombing shit... (8+ / 0-)

Defer to the war mongers and start bombing shit? I hope not. No matter what the freaks will say "you're doing it wrong" - might as well err on the side of staying the hell out of this mess.

    •  Staying the hell out won't help Iraqis. (3+ / 0-)

ISIS murdered 1700 unarmed prisoners on their first day.

Iran is already fighting them in Iraq and others may well join in. Insisting everybody do nothing just means let the psychotic jihadis slaughter all the civilians they want. I'm not for that.

I'm sorry. They are not willing to step up and help themselves - I'm with the President, we can't prop them up forever.

They were interviewing Iraqis who were welcoming the ISIL fighters , just another example of why we should have never sacrificed our blood and money there in the 1st place

Then the ISIS fighters are turning around and slaughtering all non-Sunnis they can get their hands on.

Anyone against mass slaughter by jihadi freak invaders from another country should support international efforts to stop and defeat ISIS.

doing just that , and it got us where we are today ...You want to go for 16 more years?

I am all for going in and helping communities , but maybe we should send something else beside our war machine and those who are its life time employees

We can support efforts to stop the ISIS slaughter of civilians while also opposing Bush's war-mongering.

                machine that will dissuade ISIS?

It’s the Supreme Court, stupid! Followed by: It's always the Supreme Court! Progressives will win only when we convince a majority that they, too, are Progressive.

In one ear I get Romney and 47% of American voters screaming about MOOCHERS , and we are to broke to fund grade schools and lunches

In the other ear I am told we have enough money to save grade schoolers in Iraq

And when I get to the reality in the middle , I watch DEMOCRATS agreeing to cut meals with wheels , along with cuts to food stamps , to pay for America being the police man of the world

But we might agree that every situation is different , I was not popular in this comment section when I was ALL FOR helping the people of Syria , but it was at the beginning of that mess , and I felt America could have stopped it from getting as bad as it is now

The Iraq situation is different for me because we gave them a great shot , giving them yet another shot is beyond reasonable to ask of the American tax payers

I do not support dysfunctional relationships , especially if they want to send me the bill for their dysfunctions , let THEM figure it out on their own

America just butting out might even be the solution

Feel free to express your side auapplemac  , I am willing to listen , thanx

              •  If ISIS begins a genocide, should we do nothing ? (0+ / 0-)

I know it sounds terrible, but there are different degrees in horror and in violence. The President, and the whole international community, will HAVE to take into account the LEVEL of violence going on there.

If it's on an horrific scale, there will be efforts to limit, scale down the horror.

One thing for sure: there won't be ANY good solution.

Another thing for sure: the USA and the West can help but ultimately the Arab countries are the ones who have to get past their differences and work together to confront the most extremist groups.

      •  This is the same type of comment I read about... (7+ / 0-)

Libya and Syria and Ukraine. When does the US stop acting as if we are the policeman of the world and our bombs and military can solve the politics and wars going on in every nation, anywhere?

I care about the people dying in these wars and battles, too, but American involvement doesn't ever seem to solve the problem. We just spend and spend and spend, and kill a lot of people, and then, when we leave, as we have to eventually, the situation is horrendous for the very people we intervened on behalf of in the first place.

We need to learn from our past -- we do not make these wars better.

      •  Neither will going in. (0+ / 0-)

We might bomb ISIS to hell temporarily (along with a lot of the people we're trying to protect, no doubt), but there's no one to hold the territory and keep them from returning.  Until and unless that changes, talking about intervention is so much mental masturbation, IMO.  It's a crying shame regardless.  Thinking about what the women there are in for makes me want to puke.
