  •  That's what I'm trying to do. (7+ / 0-)

Give it a rest, that is. I'm tired of the pro-Hillary / anti-Hillary diaries. I'm pointing out that Hillary is not the only potential candidate and there are 2-1/2 freakin' years until the election, with the far more important midterms in the meantime.

    Thanks for commenting.

    •  Jean Quan?? She has been a disaster (0+ / 0-)

as mayor of Oakland and its highly unlikely that she will be
be re-elected. Her inclusion on your list makes it suspect.

Then point out her shortcomings rather than casting stones at "my" list. I've followed your comments before. You're capable of better than this.

Including Sandberg and Quan, but you also list a lot of good choices.

Once upon a time, Jean Quan was a Berkeley radical, a key founder of UCB's Asian-American Studies program. Then she was a long time community leader, council woman and member of the school board in Oakland, particularly advocating to improve education for Oakland's disadvantaged youth. By any measure, she had impeccable liberal credentials and was someone I greatly admired as a positive role model.

Then she was elected mayor of Oakland. Then the Occupy movement raised a challenge to her ability to handle a crisis situation and balance the conflicts of running a city government in a city famous for it's factional city council and divisive politics verses the constitutional rights of demonstrators, while keeping the Oakland PD in check (always a difficult job).

Jean was found wanting. She was not up to the task. I supported her up to the point of my own realization that, for all her good intentions, she was not qualified for the job and was making a terrible mess of things.

Which is a tragedy, because she's a really good person and put her heart into improving Oakland for decades, only to watch all the good work and good will go down the drain over a 3 month period.

I hope she will eventually be rehabilitated and that people who have come to despise her with insufficient cause will change their minds because it's really unfair.

But it makes her really unqualified to be President and I don't think she's crazy or egotistical enough to even try.

I don't have to explain why Sheryl Sandberg is not even remotely qualified to be on that list.

But none of this matters because you've got a lot of great candidates there and so thank you for the work and the diary.

No one is coming to save us, the future is in our hands.
