  •  Korah rebelled against (4+ / 0-)

Aaron being high priest, and his test was to see whose fire God would accept, but for the rebellion of Dathan and Abiram, which was against Moses, Moses decrees:

    27. So they withdrew from around the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, and Dathan and Abiram went out standing upright at the entrance of their tents together with their wives, their children, and their infants.
    28. Moses said, "With this you shall know that the Lord sent me to do all these deeds, for I did not devise them myself.
    29. If these men die as all men die and the fate of all men will be visited upon them, then the Lord has not sent me.
    30. But if the Lord creates a creation, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them and all that is theirs, and they descend alive into the grave, you will know that these men have provoked the Lord."
Moses calls on God to bring about a new, unnatural, means of death. This always seems to be a new phase in Moses' story. This time, he tells God how to show his own truth.

I never see this discussed. Do you have any ideas about it?

We need a world in which we ask "What's happened to you?" more and "What's wrong with you?" less. (From a comment by Kossack nerafinator)

    •  Per Avot 5:8, God created 10 or 13 things (2+ / 0-)

at the end of the sixth day, just before Shabbat, the first of which was the hole into which Korach and his followers were swallowed (Balaam's talking donkey was the third).  This was how the rabbi's tried to resolve the contradictions between "modern" Greco-Roman science and the Bible - by asserting that God pre-arranged the miracles at the end of Creation that conflict with the natural order of the universe.

Thus, if Mozart's portrayal of Don Giovanni descending into a hold in the stage - and they did have trap doors in the 18th Century - were true, God would have had to pre-arrange that too at creation.
