  •  It says clearly in the block-quote... (0+ / 0-)
"Perhaps the most inflammatory was a press statement from 1995...
By NO MEANS am I defending this moron, my snarking referred to MY presumed 20-year-old answering machine gaffes.

There's NO DEFENSE for thoughtless idiocy like this moron displayed in his twenty-year old ridiculous statement.

I can easily imagine the idiotic things I might have said 20 years ago, and the only possible source of revelation of archived idiocy on my part would be somebody's drawer fulla answering machine tapes, that was the point I was making.

"Ronald Reagan is DEAD! His policies live on but we're doing something about THAT!"

    •  Yeah. (4+ / 0-)

It was in the article too. Sorry.

I will read some of the comments to take the temperature of the diary before I follow links sometimes.
      I do get your concern.
      In fact:

      The light blue flickering rhythm
Of the neighbor's big console T.V.
      Is basking on the ceiling
      Of another insomniac spree
      And outside sleep's open window
      Between the drops of rain
History is writing a recipe book
      For every earthly pain

Oh to clean up the clutter of echoes
Coming in and out of focus
      Words spoken
      Like locusts
      Sing and sing
      In my head

      And thing is
      They often seem
      In my memory's long dream
      To be superfluous to
The true story of what was

      Real is real regardless
Of what you try to say
      Or say away
      Real is real relentless
      While words distract and dismay
      Words that change their tune
Though the story remains the same
      Words that fill me quickly
And then are slow to drain
      Dialogues that dither down reminiscent
Of the way it likes to rain
      Every screen
      A smoke screen
      Oh to dream
      Just for a moment
      The picture
      Outside the frame

      Then in a flash
      The light blue horizon
      Spanning a sudden black
Is sucked into the vanishing point
      And quiet rushes back
      To search for the downbeat
      In a tabla symphony
      To search in the darkness
For someone who looks like me

(Though I'm not really who I said I was
Or who I thought I'd be)

      Just a collection of recollections
      Conversations consisting
Of the kind of marks we make
When we're trying to get a pen to work again

      A lifetime of them!

      I say to me
      Now here listening
      I say to the locusts
That sing and sing to me sitting
Now here on the front porch swing of my eyes...
      I hereby amend
      Whatever I've ever said
      With this sigh

      ~Ani DiFranco

And I hope tha you and BB both get a pass for that 20 year old stuff. I want one too.

I went through a period (late 80's, early 90's) where I listened to her music constantly.  And creating her own label?  Righteous Babe records...  How cool can you get?  <3

Anyway, that's enough derailing from me.  :-p

This pill of a politician really needs to get a grasp of something we rationalists call "reality".  (sigh)  To say such vile things.  Worse, to think them in the first place!

If we acknowledge our fears, then we must also acknowledge the consequences of our actions when we react to those fears. Hate is based on fear, fear comes from a lack of understanding. When you understand, it is more difficult to hate.
