    Imagine a teacher asks a class, "Why is there something rather than nothing?"

    Student A says "because p, q, r and s."  The teacher replies, "Ok...maybe...Anyone else?"

    Student B says "because w, x, y and z."  The teacher replies, "Now that is interesting.  I see where you're headed with that...Anyone want to reply to that?"

    Both "sides" get to talk.  One side is amplified, creating the impression of importance.
