  •  And isn't the sentiment of Jane Buehl Coln (17+ / 0-)

what we've been saying here forever: that the GOP base would gladly cut off its own nose in the knowledge that someone else (preferably black or brown) was bleeding as well.

Of course, when the state economy REALLY begins to tank because the "pork" spigot is turned off (no military or infrastructure Fed spending)  they'll just blame the Dems in the WH and the Senate for causing their misery.

(Because, we all know: there won't be a GOP President and  likely a GOP Senate majority for a loooooooooong time).

    •  At the rate the GOP is going... (9+ / 0-)

...there won't be a House majority for much longer either. No amount of gerrymandering can protect this clusterfuck.

    •  Just know (6+ / 0-)

Cochran has until November to give them what they want and quietly gut all that pork.  Would be an interesting going away present to McDaniel when the newly minted - no seniority- no juice - Senator gets walloped with all those angry people wondering where all that money they were getting paid by Uncle Sugar went!

Looks like Mississippi is the epicenter of the Ostrich paranoia syndrome.  It's always a Dem's fault and the world is going to blow up because the R's ain't in charge.

I've seen that attitude here, fortunately only among a few, but they have their own alternate reality.  Don't want to Won't listen to anyone... Except their talk radio.

That attitude is really hard to wrap your mind around and understand if you are a reasonable person and comprehend the concept of a Federalist Republic.  It is truly an alternate reality that they have allowed Koch, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al to encase them in.

Domestic politics is the continuation of civil war by other means.

The voters who don't want any "pork" for the state because the worst possible outcome would be for somebody "undeserving" to get a nickel will be ready to rip the throat out of whoever they decide to blame for losing the money.

They won't blame themselves, as voters, for their decision; they won't blame the tea partier they voted for. They will blame somebody who had nothing to do with their decision at all, somebody they really dislike for some other reason altogether.
