    The reason Mississippi gets so much back from the Feds has less to do with pork projects Cochran got via the appropriations process and more to do with entitlement programs and spending on the poor. Poor states don't have as many rich people paying taxes but have more people relying on entitlements like Medicaid, food stamps, Social Security, etc.

      in play here.  The folks who vote Republican are gonna screw the ones who get the most federal funds.

      Unfortunately, I'm sure there are a substantial number of poor whites as well, and they may as well end up voting to screw themselves because a black family resides in the White House.
