    But I have no problem predictng that the fanbase will NOT embrace a forced name change like this.

    If this had ANY chance of being a good business move... the NFL would have made it's decision before the headline could scroll across once.

    This has cable-news induced popular support. The fans don't want to change it. Not the real ones.

    I'd bet money that if they took a poll of every person who bought Redskins tickets (not counting opposing teams) or owned more than $200 of team gear... the percentage of people supporting the name change would be less than 10% and I wouldn't be shocked if it was sub 1%.

    This only was "popular" support because there is always a mob waiting to be told what to be offended by. But that mob doesn't buy tickets or jerseys.

    and as I always say: If "Raiders" is fine, no other team name can be that offensive.

      I live in the DC area (family's been here for several generations) and my family and friends are lifelong fans.  Most support a name change and think it's long overdue.  Granted--we're not football fanatics--just average fans.
