wrote up propaganda as a half-false history.

All through 1982 the Shi'ia communities in Lebanon remained fragmented. This remained the case through Reagan's use of naval guns to bombard Beirut's Druze and Muslim suburbs 1982-1984.

Quods used Sheikh Fadallah as a public voice during the consolidation in 1985 because he spoke in favor of suicide bombing:

"What martyrdom is greater than making yourself a human bomb detonating it among the enemy? What spiritualism is greater than this spiritualism in which a person loses all feeling of his body and life for the sake of his cause and mission?"
Major Depression became a weapon of irregular warfare. Quods had sited troops in Lebanon since the civil war back mid-70s. Reagan also fired shells at them, at their barracks.

Iranian arms (guns and mortar) and money and the prestige of building the thermobaric truck bombs that took out Marine BLT Barracks and more -- that's what fueled consolidating the Shi'ia local militias. Management of Lebanon's Hizb Allah was hidden.

    This was a military operation.

Sheikh Fadallah was much quoted during Intifada I and II. My guess for him goes to psychopath:

"Iran is standing alone in the world with the Palestinian people and supporting their struggle."

"All Palestine is a war zone and every Jew who unlawfully occupies a house or land belonging to a Palestinian is a legitimate target."

"There are no innocent Jews in Palestine. The area is a war zone. They kill many of our women, children, and elderly people. They destroy our homes. They confiscate our water and freedom."

Kill 'em all. Live for hate. Not a clue that Gandhi had invented a novel response to occupation/repression that goes all the other way. Listening to Fadallah would be more like this:

    War is Peace
    Freedom is Slavery
    Ignorance is Strength
