  •  I have never seen a reason to give them money (5+ / 0-)

rather than donating directly to Candidates I picked myself.

Not that politicians care much about my 10 dollar donations, I guess.

Giving to the DCCC or DSCC just seems like away for people to throw their own agency away.

    •  Exactly. (4+ / 0-)

I can't believe anybody gives to DCCC, instead of to individual candidates of their own choosing.  Talk about dumb (as in "silence your own voice in deference to the status quo")!

      •  Agree with you Progno, about not giving money (3+ / 0-)

to shills from the Dem side. I told the DNC and all it's offshoots several years ago to stop calling me because they will not get a dime of my money. Ever again. I give to individual campaigns as well. In 2012 it was for Elizabeth Warren. This year I give what few dollars I have to Allison Grimes and Al Franken. Maybe a couple more but I cannot think of them right now!

    •  There is one good reason (0+ / 0-)

Although it may not seem like enough to you, money contributed to the DSCC or DCCC is funneled based on the most strategic need.  Then the DSCC/DCCC leadership is able to determine the best way to maintain or establish a Dem majority.

When I contribute to United Way, I always let them decide where the money would be most effective rather than choosing my favorite organization.

I think the same concept applies to establishing/maintaining a Dem majority.

I understand the frustration when we don't see our elected officials taking actions we prefer.  But it is much worse when they are Republicans than Democrats (trust me, I live in AZ, I know how painful it is - think John McCain).  So I'm happy to help the DSCC or DCCC strategically fund candidates in other states who will help move the Congress or Senate a little farther to the left (maybe not as far as you would like, but better than leaving it in Republican hands).

Still trying to figure it all out
