  •  Thanks VClib. I thought that looked strange. (3+ / 0-)

I'll make this correction. I wonder if this Newsweek article slipped by Newsweek's usual editing process. What did you think of their logical leap at the end?

DID A LOBBYIST INTERVENE IN A DOJ INVESTIGATION?:

So says Newsweek: “James Cole, the No. 2 man at the Justice Department, sent an intriguing email about the criminal investigation of Credit Suisse’s offshore tax-evasion schemes for wealthy American clients. …

Cole added this eyebrow-raising detail: ‘I got a call from Broderick Johnson who says the CEO wants to get this resolved.’ …

Broderick Johnson would be a lawyer and former lobbyist close to President Barack Obama.

Last January, Obama named him assistant to the president and cabinet secretary — his job is to liaise with various government agencies, including the Justice Department. Cole’s email was of interest in part because Johnson’s former K Street lobbying firm, Collins Johnson Group, was representing Credit Suisse.”

intervening in administrations for decades now.  Do they have the people's interest at heart?  Of course not.  It isn't in their job description...

Was Broderick Johnson, Assistant to the President and Cabinet Secretary, acting in that capacity or as a former lobbyist whose K Street lobbying firm, Collins Johnson Group, was representing Credit Suisse?

Either way, it reeks, doesn't it? At least to me, it does.

Didn't we hear something about Obama not hiring former lobbyists for his administration, or am I mistaken?

            •  Thanks for the diary, HoundDog (0+ / 0-)

I saw it as a headline on several blogs, each with just a link to Newsweek, (which strangely would not allow me to access it).

So if not for your diary, I would not have been able to read about it.

              So, thanks HoundDog

peoples' interest at heart when the administration doesn't.
