  •  yeah but at least people of color with jobs at (0+ / 0-)

the military bases can keep em and retire with a federal pension. and he won't sent the federal education dollars back and make sarah palin the head of state ed department....of course goober pile gets to keep the is a pretty weird confluence of bullshit though....

    •  Bwwaahahhahaaa (0+ / 0-)

Lol. That was the most insulting line of bullshit ive heard all night.

Yeah...its the black folks who are benefitting from Cochran's beneficence.

      •  that is not what i wrote. i am sure some black (0+ / 0-)

people have a few of the pork jobs in that ain't much but if it were your job it would be really important to you. I am not saying they are benefiting as a group I am saying a few are better off with asshole c versus asshole d.....maybe not a big deal to you but it is to them. and the idea of refusing federal ed dollars in a state that already is at the bottom of education quality doesn't bother you? seems to me your flying too high to see where the rubber meets the road....

      •  and furda more 19.8% of black employment in (0+ / 0-)

Mississippi is in government jobs and I'm gonna guess that whether they be federal or state or city they have some amount of federal dollars behind them. on the other hand black unemployment is around 45%.....but with asshole d I bet things would have gotten a lot worse, not better and not stayed the same.....  am I happy? would I be more unhappy with asshole d...youbetcha!

        •  That aint because of Thad Cochran, for sure. (1+ / 0-)

Thats because of Federal hiring rules set up by a bunch of East Coast liberals. Trust, if Thad Cochran could replace every black Federal employee in Mississippi with a white one, he'd do it in a heartbeat. Youre deluding yourself if you think he is any different from McDaniel.

There was no difference between them on any real, substantive issues. Only tempermant. Theyre both a couple of right wing klansmen. Just different klavens.

          •  Thad voted LBJ over Goldwater (2+ / 0-)

Idiosyncratic, pro-establishment. Liberal, not progressive. For the poor, the children, the planet, and the rule of law.
UC Berkeley; I think I'm in the conservative half of this city.

            •  I dont buy it. (0+ / 0-)

He switched parties right after the 64 election and has been a Republican ever since.

Goldwater didnt bother him enough to make him remain a Democrat, as many southern politicians did even after Nixon won in 68.

Bullshit. He coasted right along with the Southern Strategy and was Nixons campaign manager in Mississippi. Civil Rights lover my ass.

          •  I can bet you good money (0+ / 0-)

Obama wouldn't be able to nominate any judges from MS if McDaniel were in charge.

          •  well a whole lot of black voters seemed to think (0+ / 0-)

            differently than you;

"Mr. Cochran’s victory was powered in part by African-Americans in areas of north Jackson whose turnout shattered that seen in those precincts in the primary. Turnout jumped fivefold at New Hope Baptist Church, and sevenfold at Green Elementary School, where only 14 voters came out on June 3 but about 100 showed up on Tuesday."

some of this may just be a result of how pissed these voters were that the McDog team was threatening to suppress their votes decades after the voter registration drive of 1964 and such. but that can not account for the whole remarkable increase. I am hoping that on a national level the right wing be they tp-ers or just old fashioned racists and nativists don't catch on to the phenomenon where they threaten to suppress the vote and folks become more determined to vote as in Florida 2012, etc.

      •  actually (0+ / 0-)

Ingalls ship yard employs about 40 precedent AAs. They build ships for the navy. It's one of the largest employers in the state, about 5000 people I think
