  •  We will hear from BBC (4.00)
If in fact, it is determined the the WH bunglers leak resulted in exactly this attack, the British won't be silent.

Bushco - another day, another extremely inept security leak.

    •  Inept, or complicit? (4.00)
When people are apparently inept on a sufficient number of occasions, you have to start wondering whether ineptitude is the true explanation.
      •  have to agree (none)
as in the charities under investigation, and somehow!!! Judith Miller tipped them off just before they were ready to close in.
        •  Judith Miller could well be part of the conspiracy (4.00)
She coauthored a book with that nut Laurie Mylroie, who thought Saddam was responsible for all the evils on earth.  Mylroie is a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, the center of neoconservatism.
          •  So can (none)
I put my tinfoil hat back on now and say that Bush helped blow up London to try to get his ratings up?

            Can I please?

      •  Not inept (none)
They are just all political all the time.  The leaker only cared that this made them look good, like they were just rollin' 'em up.

They ate the seed crop to get re-elected and now we're seeing the results.

    •  ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! (4.00)
      This story is very volatile.

It will NOT be ignored by the Brits like it was by the Americans in 2004.

This story, as they say, will grow legs easily -- indeed, it will be a fucking centipede when the British press fully get a hold of it.

This isn't exactly the "distraction" Rove was hoping for now, is it!!!

      •  I'll believe it when I see it..... (none)
.... I trust the British press to pick up on this if there is truth to it.
        •  You'll probably see something soon. (none)
...Security officials tell ABC News they have discovered links between the eldest of the London bombers, Mohammed Sadique Khan, 30, and the original group in Luton...

...One of Khan's friends informed the BBC today that Khan had undergone training for explosives at terror camps in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Sounds fairly probable that this story has legs to me.

        •  This also depends on the Pakistanis (none)
and the government of Pakistan has done an awful lot of talking out of both sides of its mouth.

A lot of the "legs" of this story depends on what we think the Pakistanis did or didn't do.  It's not entirely clear that members of that government aren't collaborating with al-Qaeda in various ways.  So there could well have been multiple leaks that helped al-Qaeda slip this by the British police efforts.  That's not to excuse the Bushies for their shameless use of events like this, just to point out that there are a number of points meriting deeper discussion here.

I think this disruption of an investigation exemplifies the stupidity of playing political games with terror arrests - and the difficulties in providing the public a clear explanation of what's going on, even when you are in fact on the level.  What should or would liberal government have done in this situation, especially given our desire to convince the public that a heavy focus international cooperation is a better way to combat terror than extensive use of the military?

    •  Evil bunglers. (4.00)
Our traitorous, piece of shit leaders have fucked up multiple countries now. We'll be lucky if the rest of the world doesn't gang up on us.
