  •  What the hell does "next decade" mean?! (0+ / 0-)

Does that mean in the 10 years following his pronouncement or the decade beginning in 2020 perhaps or some other vague time frame?  Obviously keeping timing simple and vague--"next decade"--aids in stating such prognostications and in stoking fear.

It should be noted that much of Europe long has been accustomed to terrorist attacks (as has Japan for that matter). Given the number of people who have reason not to like this country and their resourcefulness as well as their statelessness, it seems very likely that we will be subject to some sort of "attack" in future.  We are demonstrably vulnerable.  Most of us recognize these modern realities even as we are confident that our government is vigilant and responsive to them.

Though Mr. Cheney's declaration will allow him to claim credit whenever some aggression occurs assuming he survives to witness it, one must wonder at the purpose of his mouthings.   While he seems bent upon somehow improving his standing, realistically what does he seek to achieve.  We already labor under the various legislative and judicial violations of liberty thanks to the administration in which he (mis-)served.  So what is the point of his cry of wolf or that Hannibal is at the gates?  And why the hell can't they simply be ignored or treated deservedly--"And in other news, Mr. Cheney/his spawn has delivered him/herself of today's terror warning..."
