      in the classroom but rather to become an administrator and tell everyone else how best to do it.
      Michelle Rhee is the poster girl for this. Wendy Koop, BTW, has been in the classroom either as far as I know.

        no classroom experience at the time she pitched her Princeton senior thesis supposition to her corporate sponsor, nor has she gotten any since, to the best of my knowledge.
        That particular combination of academic and corporate arrogance never bothered to ask actual educational practitioners what they knew or thought students might actually need.
        Michelle Rhee, even by her own admission, was not a good teacher and had to rely heavily on her non-Ivy-League-educated but more experienced colleagues in order just to control her classroom.
        PR for Teach for America emphasizes that participants "tend" to remain engaged in schools as administration/management.
        As an Ivy-educated teacher who spent more than 15 years in urban classrooms, the implied assumption that only less well educated people stay in the classroom makes me angry indeed.
