  •  Why is "ammosexual" acceptable, then? (1+ / 0-)

First, and most obviously, it's a joke made at the expense of people who are MORE than capable of defending themselves.  Did you SEE the picture behind Bill Maher when he introduced this term to most of us???

Secondly, there is, undeniably, a sub culture among gun owners of people with a psychosexual relationship with their weapons.  Do you think ANYONE with a vagina has anything to do with either Mutt or Jeff - the big fat slob and his tiny sidekick on an Open Carry Texas mission in Chilies?  There ARE some men in this country whose primary relationship is with their firearms; sane gun owners can recognize that and have a Sista Souljah moment or let these clowns bring you all down.

Thirdly, making fun of those with whom you disagree is a grand old American tradition and is thoroughly LEGAL.  Forcing a teenager to spend a day in abject humiliation in front of the whole damned town or lose his job is bullying of a type that the law does not allow.

If you really can't see the difference, your inability to think logically and your hypersensitivity should preclude you from getting anywhere near a gun.  I'm a veteran who learned how to shoot from her NRA member father, so don't try to comfort yourself by writing me off as a libtard gun grabber.  I'm the kind of person gun rights advocates could have had in their corner until they went down a nihilistic rabbit hole dug by the arms industry and epitomized by Joe the Plumber, who in the wake of Sandy Hook said "Your dead kids don't trump my rights."  Wake up and smell the coffee.

So, according to your logic it would be okay to make "feed the kids, the poor, the homeless, starving countries" jokes at the expense of large-breasted women because clearly the thing being joked about has capabilities? Are you sure you want to take the 'It's okay to make fun of them' route?

Prove that such a segment exists, show us the data that gives numbers.

You sure you want to go that route? Isn't the desire to have actual conversation here, rather than just a bunch of name calling?

So what? Just because you were in the .mil.us doesn't mean you can't be supportive of gun banning. Having previously been in the military also doesn't mean you are superior, the only reason I wasn't was because meps found a tumor. Even adding female to the previously-military aspect doesn't place you on an authoritative pedestal - Lynndie England was female in the military. You threw a bunch of personal traits there in what seems to be an attempt to make yourself out to be more worthy of attention - but I reject your attempt at making me feel inferior just because I believe differently than you.

Seeing that you are also the kind of person that thinks it is okay to make fun of those who disagree with you, and that you think it is okay to try and puff yourself up in order to intimidate others into acquiescing to your intent, I'm going to say I personally don't care that you aren't in the gun-rights corner. I know that I sometimes fall into the same character-flaw traps as you are displaying, but at least I know they are flaws and make the attempt to change my behavior while you seem to be proud of yourself.

And about that idiot joe the plumber, rights do come at a cost. You may have noticed there was a recent ruling by scotus that declared cell phones require warrants before being searched - which had an interesting quotation that I will now share with you. Emphasis mine, to make sure you can pick out the important bit:

We cannot deny that our decision today will have an
impact on the ability of law enforcement to combat crime.
Cell phones have become important tools in facilitating
coordination and communication among members of crim-
inal enterprises, and can provide valuable incriminating
information about dangerous criminals. Privacy comes at
      a cost
      .
Oh my, respecting the fourth amendment comes at a cost. A cost that might meant that people die as a result of the police respecting one of the first ten amendments.
