Well, what is there to do?

Please understand me: this is probably the non plus ultra of bully cop behavior, but such stomach churning video is viscerally outrageous and demands an action. In this case, the action is? The footage is old, the administrative action is cold, and the cop is back on the streets, so I don't know if it's the best thing to see this kind of visual and moral insult and then have nowhere to go with the anger.

If we were able to fight the warrior cop, able to get Miranda back to its pre-2012 state, able to get even the fifth back (the failure to speak can now be used as evidence by police), by any concrete means, then let's do that. Other than supporting, financially, the ACLU and the EFF, what can we do?

Forgive my saying so, but having showed us this provocation, it is somewhat your duty to give some means of address.

persons living with disabilities to require specific training for all sworn officers to prepare them to appropriately deal with members of the public with special needs, and official procedures which increase accountability.

There are people actively pursuing these initiatives, and I applaud anything, including this diary, which raises awareness of the problem.

In general, I'm a fan of jpmasser's posts. I am simply pointing out that this one is a sort of practice that we should be careful of. We don't want to ignite emotions without offering a proper venue for action.

To your point, I would agree, except that I would suggest that this piece illustrates a policeman who would not have been better with training. He already knows he's being brutal, means to humiliate, wants to revel in power, and hopes to terrify. He is, in short, criminal, sadistic, and repugnant.

One other thing people have said before is that we should have steroid testing for police. That seems like a good idea to me, too.
