    these facts?

Cassidy voted against equal pay for women
Cassidy voted against Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act
Cassidy voted Against Funding Planned Parenthood
I think the right-wing needs to be reminded that abstinence only doesn't always work when it's up against raging teenage hormones.
    •  I made two posts: (4+ / 0-)

First, "This question is asked of women, so it should be fair to ask you: Can you balance your responsibilities as a father/grandfather with the responsibilities of national office?"

Then, in response to someone who claimed he was being ill-treated by commenters, I pointed out that Cassidy had no qualms about denying sex education to millions of teenage girls, and that he was also attempting to intrude on the reproductive decisions of women in general. Therefore, he had no right to complain if people wanted to raise questions about his own performance as a parent.

After a few minutes, posts got erased and I was banned from his Facebook page.

Stephen Colbert does superb satire. Pity those offended by it.

for the right wing, this isn't hypocrisy, this is the outcome they want.

According to their twisted moral priorities, women aren't supposed to have equal pay or security--- they're supposed to depend on the man in their life.  First their father, then their husband.  Women aren't supposed to rely on the government (i.e. all of society) for protection. They're supposed to rely on the man in their life.

So when a young woman is stuck and needs to turn to the man in her life for help... well that's precisely the outcome they hoped for.

To them, every woman is supposed to be dependent on the man in her life. (and in their mind 'dependent on' means "subordinate to", which is why they harp about 'dependence')

The "radical" notion of feminism says to fuck all that nonsense: Every woman is as independent a human being as any man is. Which shouldn't be complicated, but for some people it is.

      Nobody deserves poverty.
