  •  The women's rights movement needs... (14+ / 0-)

...to get re-organized.  The "pro-life" movement has become way to effective at using fear and muscle.  We are in a new civil war just short of actual military battles.  The theocratic right is at the peak of its power Hobby Lobby and all.  The old tactics may no longer be effective.  The busing of women to more civilized states makes sense.  Is anyone organizing this nowadays?

    •  Planned Parenthood and NARAL are (13+ / 0-)

leading the way on this.  We must remember, however, that the anti-choice nuts are few, but they are active and vocal (and getting their way).

They're ONLY effective because they're loud, single issue VOTERS.  They vote in every single election based on this one single issue and that's why their wishes become their politicians demand.

We need to be just as determined and focused by registering and getting people to the polls.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.

    •  I am far, far away from a (7+ / 0-)

city now and I'm behind on the news about PP's actual participation in this issue.

My oldest just called and she is going to go to a clinic in Texas where there are always protestors. She is taking 'adoption' forms to give out to the protestors. "Here, if you want to prevent an abortion, sign up to adopt  the baby." My sisters were carrying on in front of me one day and I shut them down by asking how many children they were buying formula and diapers for. I also asked how much they donate monthly to crack mothers so they can get their drugs. That ended that discussion.

Honoring instead of shaming women for controlling their own reproduction by any means. It has to be a cultural value including a celebration of reproductive planning. I am sick of seeing mass media depicting hapless "girls" struggle w the choice after the fact of unexpected pregnancy. It makes women look stupid that they had not considered a path before deciding to have sex.
