  •  Oh goodness SteveSeattle.....the story of Rex..... (3+ / 0-)

is pretty sad, I can totally understand why it haunts you still.  In Colorado we had vets that visited homes, but here in BFE, Texas there is no such luxury.  We all do the best we can, armed with all the information we have, and it still is an uneasy decision to make the call.  My decision was not to wait until tomorrow when the vet was open.  Izzi had gone from bad to worse in 4 or 5 days and I couldn't let him suffer one more day.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.....

You're very welcome.  Our love is so pure for our pets, the loss can be huge.

Rex was a cancer survivor.  Originally misdiagnosed, by the time a biopsy indicated Lymphoma, my 17 lb kitty was down to 5 1/4 lbs and near gone.  But he made a complete recovery - kitty chemo!  What a journey we shared.  Once back on his feet, he was healthy and happy for another five years.  I don't regret one penny spent.  Rex made each day special.

One day my pharmacist, though hesitant to ask, said she and the rest of the staff were wondering if I had a small child with cancer as I was always having the chemo pills chopped up.  My goodness, the look on her face when I told her the pills were for my little kitty!

Thank you for your kind thoughts as well.

      Best wishes.

      •  Rex.....a nightmare to a miracle....and you... (0+ / 0-)

finally got the correct information that saved that boy's life.  You gave him another chance to be a cat, the thing that he excelled at.  Izzi had gotten so thin that I could feel every bump on his spine.  I initially chalked it up to old age, as I have another that is 16 and losing girth, but honestly it was his time to go, no more torture or suffering................
