which is why those activities are already illegal.

The legality of firearms- which we can see above the vast, truly overwhelming majority of people handle responsibly, should not be subject to irrational fears peddled through sentimentality.

issue, I fear, as do a lot of people who are somehow mystically tied to their 2nd Amendment Rights as ascribed by the current SCOTUS.

      The rest of us?

We see it as a moral issue.

That dead kids (and adults, too) in schools and theaters and shopping malls from one of the more than 300 million guns now loose in America in the hands of some person who should never be allowed to hold a water pistol, much less a deadly weapon which shoots metal slugs at supersonic speeds ARE MORE IMPORTANT than adhering to the cries of "I have a RIGHT to a gun!"

I know you will disagree with me.

I hope your 2nd Amendment love helps keep you warm at night. It doesn't help the parents of those dead kids one fucking bit, though, I guarantee you.

      •  I see it as a policy issue. (0+ / 0-)

Policy, particularly policy that is restrictive of an enumerated right, should not be swayed by an incalculably small minority of people who misuse and/or abuse said rights.

        That is foolish.

          guns.  Like Ferguson.  What joy.

        •  That "incalculably small" figure was just (0+ / 0-)

calculated above.  Added up over weeks and months, the number of firearm deaths in America is somewhere above 30K per year, which includes suicides by gunshot, since those are an easily available tool to commit the act.

30K per year is not dismissable - in some states more people die from guns than do from automobile accidents.  And yet with cars we mandate training, insurance, licensing and we have heavy law enforcement to restrict and regulate use.  Sure cars weren't part of the original bill of rights - because they didn't exist then and weren't conceived of then.  When you're willing to have well-regulated militias come back into effect, I'll be willing to discuss who should be allowed to have guns.  Until then, you're just cherry-picking your arguments and making yourself look foolish and callous.
