    make of former President George H. W. Bush who is a practicing Episcopalian (Reagan claimed to be an Episcopalian, too, but really did not practice) who attends Mass regularly at a really lovely parish in Houston.

    What would they think of his religious affiliation, given that the Episcopal Church is allowing same-gender couples to be married in church in states and commonwealths with marriage equality laws, permits birth control and abortion, and unlike many Evangelical denominations only permits divorce and remarriage with the permission of the local Bishop. (Jesus said nothing about homosexuality or abortion, but did have a strong opinion about divorce).

    I suspect in some circles in the Republican Party today, Both Bush I and Reagan would be deemed insufficiently religious.
