No, the Christian religion does not speak out aainst the "gay lifestyle", whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.  Jesus is recorded as having said absolutely nothing about gay people one way or the other, and other Biblical quotations that are used by homophobes to justify their bigotry are generally either taken out of context or mistranslated.

It is true that some Christians do speak out against gay people, but the theological basis for their fixation on fighting gay people is weak, to put it politely.  And far from Christians mostly being against gay people, the reality seems to be something close to an even split, with liberal Protestant churches coming down on the pro-gay side, along with at least half of American Catholics (even if their church disagrees with that).

So your post is only accurate if you accept that the Biblical interpretation of scripture about homosexuality espoused by fundamentalist churches is accurate and reflects the views of most American Christians.  Neither assumption is correct.

And I'll add that if you're trying to fight anti-Christian bias on DKos, repeating right wing anti-gay talking points about homosexuality and Christianity is not an effective tactic.

If Democrats proclaim the the Earth is round and Republicans insist it is flat, we will shortly see a column in the Washington Post claiming the the earth is really a semi-circle.

    •  Thanks, Tom. And I will (6+ / 0-)

add that The Episcopal Church (read a form of Christian church) does not speak against the "gay lifestyle" (whatever the hell that is). Instead, the LGBT clergy and lay persons in the church treat all of us--gay and straight alike--as equals in the eyes of God.

That's God's love that I personally understand. That homophobic crap?  I don't understand THAT at all.

    •  "Gay lifestyle" (0+ / 0-)

Really?  You don't know what that is?  You obviously don't know much about gays in America.  There is a VERY distinct "gay lifestyle" in America.

      It's not a's just a fact.  Sheeeesh.
