  •  at this point I think either of them are doomed (16+ / 0-)

If McDaniel recovers, there may be enough Cochran supporters who'd then take on the sour-grapes role and stay home, or vote against him.

And there are definitely a lot of McDaniel supporters who hate Cochran's guts, and they'll be sitting it out or wasting their vote writing in Tea-Party-Jesus-boy.

Either way, it helps Childers.  But I think the Tea Party types here are stupider than the old-guard Republicans... I think it'd help Childers more to go against Cochran, because Tea Partiers are some petulant lil' pee-pees.

Besides, I'd rather it be Cochran because... even with a split vote, the Republican might still win.  And I'd much rather have Cochran, who sucks but at least knows how things work in Washington and has managed to do some good things for our state, than McDaniel, who has no clue, is corrupt as sin, and would cut off all kinds of funding for education, poverty relief, etc. just so he could position himself for some future running-for-president goals.  McDaniel is only in this for himself, and he's a cynical bastard who knows he can get stupid people to hand him anything as long as he mentions "God" enough times.  He's an evil, evil man.

    •  I don't live there ... (4+ / 0-)

      I just eat popcorn.

      You make very valid points.

I am a statistician, not a magician although we are easily confused. I guess that explains why people keep trying to tie me in chains and place me under water.

but I wonder if his hollering is in hopes that:
      1. Cochran will win
      2. Cochran will be forced to resign for "health issues"
      3. Gov. Bryant will be forced to appoint McDaniel because of public outcry

      •  Even if that happened, he'd still have to face the (0+ / 0-)

voting booth.  His actions should peeve everyone with even a modicum of common sense.

a modicum of common sense is rare
