    Der "Chief of Station" (COS) – the official name of the highest employee at US Embassies for spying is employee of the CIA and had diplomatic immunity - nomrally he is accredited as cultural, press or economic attaché. Usually among allied nations, the US tells the host country, who their COS is. If there is an invitation to leave the country for the COS, it is not yet a demand for extradition/eviction/expulsion. Only if the invitation is not respected, there could be a formal request to leave the country within a certain time frame.
