the FEC. who determined him to have been born on US soil as he was born in Panama when it was one of our protectorates.  Someone from Puerto Rico or Guam could potentially appeal to the FEC.  Not someone born in Canada, who just renounced his Canadianship.  Whose father was not an American citizen and a mother, who while American, was working in Canada for a non-US governmental agency.

    •  Read Title 8 of the US Code, Section 1401 below. (0+ / 0-)

The third paragraph covers McCain, the last covers Cruz, and the first covers Obama.

    •  McCain (0+ / 0-)

was very specifically born in a US Military hospital in the Panama Canal Zone.  Which was in fact American territory until we gave it back to Panama.

Saying McCain was born in Panama, while accrate, is a bit disingenuous.

      •  True. My son was born in Spain, american base, (0+ / 0-)

but also a Spanish base.  So he has duel citizenship.  He has both a spanish birth certificate and an american birth certificate of birth abroad.  By the way, to get a copy, we must ask the State Department for it, pay about $60, and go through a bunch of paperwork.  Not easy or cheap.  Just one parent must be an american and their children can claim citizenship.  Doesn't even have to be on a military base.  That just makes it easier.
