    Not quite seventy yet, most of the time I feel as blithely invulnerable to age and mortality as I did at twenty. I'm just fooling myself, of course. Your meditation has planted seeds of courage and tranquility that have a little time to sprout in us before I, and your other readers, are going to need them.

    The tomato has to die before its seeds can begin life. We humans sow our seeds in one another from life's beginning to its end; if we're doing this living thing right, they are seeds of kindness, respect, wisdom, and hope.

    Thank you for slowing me down this morning to think and feel.

    The real USA Patriot Act was written in 1789. It's called the Bill of Rights.
