  •  My radio memories (13+ / 0-)

have mostly to do with road trips...when a really great driving song would come on.

    Best memory:

Driving west on I-40 across North Carolina in an orange VW convertible with 3 other suite mates in college, to the extended play of Bruce Springsteen, which we had called into the Davidson College radio dj in the wee hours from a pit stop pay phone. (One of my suite mates had the number...secret crush I imagine). Because it was the graveyard shift, the guy played the entire Born to Run album and dedicated it to us.

There was much singing and more than a little swooning going on in that car that early morning.

I do remember listening repeatedly to graveyard shift radio DJs who would encourage lonely girls to call in and talk to them.

Not sure this is necessarily a good memory, however.  File it  under "pretentiously emo youth".
