    ...execution in such detail.

    Of course, nobody with a conscience will say that executing a few innocents is the price to be paid for having the death penalty on the books. But that is exactly the case.

    The death penalty will only be done away with nationwide when enough lawmakers are persuaded that not just the innocent but the guilty should not be executed

    Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

      Most death penalty supporters deny that innocents are ever executed. Having lived long enough though, I am certain that any process involving humans will be error-filled whether or not there are conflicting motivations.

      However, I have heard some proponents say exactly that accepting the execution of some innocents is worth the value of the vengeance provided by the death penalty. I remember hearing WF Buckley saying that years ago and thinking to myself "Well at least he's being a little intellectually honest..."
