    can be a pretty good way to get to know the real place you're visiting. I love checking out local supermarkets and shops wherever I travel.

      Most of the conferences I attend in a year are technology oriented.  Go there, do the study, take a test.   You leave under near pressure of death feeling as though you've just lost out on something before you get around to being debriefed later.

      Old habbits die hard.   Years ago, I found myself in San Jose not knowing WTF anything was and just was completely annoyed at the idea of $2.50 vending machine gum at the hotel we were staying at, and I decided: yeah, this is over.

      Outside of that, complimentary razors/etc. have always tended to suck for me, and I value having the right thing.  

      I think if I could get into the mindset to think of it as a vacation (which I should be) I'd probably lay back more.. but some habits die hard.  :)
