I mean, maybe the National Guard could help set up shelters and hand out meals or something, the way they do after a hurricane.  There's a lot of humanitarian-aid things the Guard could do.

But I don't get the idea that's what the right-wing idiots want.  They want them to "secure the border."  Against what?  These aren't just impatient people who don't want to go through the legal hassles of getting over here... they're refugees who'd likely be killed if they didn't escape the situation they were in.

I'm not a Christian, like a lot of these protestors claim to be, but I wouldn't be turning them away to go back into that situation.  It'd be no different than killing them.  What to do with them is a problem, sure, but it's not one that we can't afford to take our time with.  It's not an "invasion" that's threatening our country.  It's a lot of people in trouble, who have nothing, and who need help.

I hear people like that idiot sheriff trying to say these are MS-13 gangbangers and stuff.  Possibly some of the older kids are.  We find that out, and we see that they don't carry on criminal activities here.  But we don't assume all (or even any) are criminals just because a few might be.  Again, we can afford to take the time to see who's who.  In the meantime, we give them a safe place to stay and see that they get fed.

Saying they're "somebody else's problem" is a really weird thing for a group of people who claim to be "pro-life" and followers-of-Jesus to be saying.  This country's gotten badly warped, to an amazing and scary degree.
