    West Virginia Sen...

Though not in the South as such (just spend one winter here to disabuse one of that notion.) Resources would be much better spent on this race than even thinking about defeating Graham, which ain't happening. For the life of me, I can't figure out why this race has been written off. Capito and Tenant were tied last year at this time. Since then, Capito has surged ahead. Capito hasn't done anything different other than campaign, and act like the seat Is hers. The Democrats have all but surrendered, with the notable exception of Elizabeth Warren. . It seems like the Democratic party has been distracted by shiny objects that will get them nowhere. This was a winnable race a year ago, but we have dropped the ball.

Democrats are close to done in WV, unfortunately.  The situation resembles that seen in the South.  The new voters coming in in WV are net Republicans and the old voters passing away are net FDR Democrats.  Incumbent Democrats are getting reelected with shrinking margins; Joe Manchin's numbers have worsened fast and Nicky Rahall will on trend fall 2% to 51% support this year and 49% in 2016.  Conservative Democrats are the swing vote and now tend to vote for Republican incumbents and net for the Republican for open seats.
