  •  On my wishlist... (5+ / 0-) a congress member who can navigate the denial narrative, and call BS on it. Actually, many House and Senate members who oppose denial with enough unity to stand up to the lock-step drivel that comes from the status quo.

I think it will happen, too.

not to respond well to changes in public opinion unless they are sustained over several election cycles. Republicans are relentless in their lies, and Democrats have until recently been entirely wishy-washy on Global Warming.

I believe, because of other polling, that this poll is correctly indicating that we have passed a tipping point such as we saw when Marriage Equality first polled over 50%, and first Biden, then Obama "came out" as supporters. They are certainly starting to get out there on reining in carbon, after more than five years of the dreaded "all of the above" strategy.

I foresee Democrats taking the House, although not perhaps this year. Then we can talk about repealing carbon subsidies, increasing the gasoline tax (and replenishing the Highway Fund without harmful gimmicks), taxing carbon, and a lot more. We will also have to abolish partisan state redistricting and voter suppression, and reconstitute a SCOTUS-proof preclearance list.

You know, when electric cars really start to take over, we will have to find a way to tax them for the Highway Fund. Well, we can worry about that later.

      •  That isn't what I'm talking about. (0+ / 0-)

Countless hours have been devoted to denial narratives in congress. In the past, there haven't been many members of congress who are willing (or able) to refute these memes.

Denial is a paper tiger. We just need to find people willing to stand up and tear it down.
