nobody spoke up back and said it was a lousy idea back in 2008 when George Bush signed the law giving special consideration to Central American kids fleeing the violence there.

That's not what the law was about. check your facts.

      •  Human trafficking and it's not just Cen Am but (5+ / 0-)

anywhere who does not have a contiguous border with us.....

Basically everyone in the world but Mexico and Canada.....

But so what is my question.  So what the law was intended to deal with human trafficking....luckily for us and these kids, the law also happens to cover their flight to safety, esp if they can prove the issues in court.

Only people I've seen bring up that point myself were those who would be in front of the bus screaming vile shit  at preteen kids.....

cited: it is humanitarian-based, and extends, especially, help to the most vulnerable of those at risk of being subjected to human trafficking:

          children.

So the original post was not incorrect.

20,000 slaves in the US.  This does not refer to people who are simply mistreated here but refers to people being bought and sold as chattel

          •  And the Walk Free Foundation estimates (0+ / 0-)

that there are about 60,000; however, its definition of slavery also includes ‘slavery-like practices (such as debt bondage, forced marriage, and sale or exploitation of children), human trafficking and forced labour’.

      immigration:

The Founders of the several colonies, which became the US, were given the lands on which they founded their colonies by the king of England.

The king of England did not own those lands, so could not legally take them, let alone give them to anyone.
