  •  Too bad about Barr (3+ / 0-)

He's not too great, but he'll at least side with us on a few things.  And Barr would be one less of an automatic vote for the GOP leadership, which would increase the leverage of House Dems.

I sort of despise Bob Barr, I don't think he's very principled or particularly interested in policy. He went from the hardest-core of partisans with his involvement in the Clinton impeachment and a drug warrior to the Libertarian Party presidential candidacy (?) back to being what he used to be.

      •  He's still better than (2+ / 0-)

your average Southern Republican.  Maybe not by much, but I think he'd occasionally tilt back to his libertarian leanings.

It's like Rand Paul vs Ted Cruz.  I'd far prefer the former.

        •  I'd trust Bob Barr about as far as I can throw him (5+ / 0-)

He didn't have a libertarian bone in his body prior to 2008. Combine that with the fact that he was one of the managers for Clinton's impeachment and I'll be quite pleased if he never holds office again, even if he loses to a generic Southern Republican.

        •  Barr is more like Cruz. He wants to impeach Obama (1+ / 0-)

and he even sucks as a Libertarian.

TPM: Former Rep. Bob Barr: Yes, I Am Serious About Impeaching Obama

Former Rep. Bob Barr (R-GA), who led the charge to impeach former President Bill Clinton, told NBC's Chuck Todd on Friday that he also wasn't joking around about wanting to impeach President Barack Obama.

Barr is now running for Congress ...Todd played audio of Barr saying he'd like to impeach Obama in the same way he impeached former President Bill Clinton.

"... the house resolution that I introduced on Nov. 5 of 1997. That was the very first official inquiry of impeachment filed against Bill Clinton. ...And what I did is I took that, took that document, figuratively kind of dusted it off, added a little bit of language to it, and darn if it doesn't sound pretty good with Barack Obama's name in there."

          Wiki
In an interview with the Daily Caller, he (Barr) endorsed and encouraged libertarians to support Newt Gingrich's campaign for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, much to the surprise of many minarchist-libertarians who assumed he would support Texas Congressman Ron Paul
Barr reinvents himself every few years.  And he's a dick in every incarnation.

I'm not sure how well we can trust that internal poll for Loudermilk (I guess his ancestor was a dairy farmer whose milk was especially noisy when you poured it.)
