is that you are dealing with some people like expatjourno who want a one state solution...and that solution does not include Jews. There is a certain type of left that believes that the state of Israel should not exist. That the Jews stole the land. They refuse to acknowledge that Hamas would kill or exile every Israeli that they could and establish an Islamic state.

expatjourno's statement says nothing at all about a one state solution. Casting this aspersion on to his/her views does nothing for your own credibility.

Arguing as epj does that the Palestinians have a right to fight at least for the minimal state that the 1947 UN treaty promised them (as opposed to the entire region which they had been living in) doesn't even begin to come close to being an Arab one-stater. At worst you can say that those views don't respect the situation on the ground over the past 55 years.

Maybe expatjourno will chime in. If I made an assumption then I apologize. But you should know that I've been here for over 8 years and I think I've got a good read on some posters. His sig line should give you a good indication of his mindset.

The fact is...Hamas wants to destroy Israel and I'm tired of people making excuses for them.

And I would suggest you compare UIDs before claiming seniority in judgement.

I took a look at his recent comment history, and it all seems to relate back to arguments based around the original UN treaty. The Palestinians have a right to a homeland as much as the Israelis. Both have a claim to the area, and while the 1947 plan was obviously conceived either with a blind eye toward political reality or an outright disdain for Israel (some say the latter is true - dump the Jews in the Middle East away from Europe and let them fight it out with the Arabs...), that plan is still the best one that anyone's come up with.

Hamas's political and humanitarian wing has done more for the citizens of Gaza than anyone else. Their military wing is seen by some as being more engaged in fighting for the rights of Palestinians than anyone else. That doesn't make them right, but it makes them almost impossible to defeat without a genocide in Gaza. If we want a way forward, we need to look beyond attack/response.

          •  Such a good answer. Thanks. (0+ / 0-)

Obama: Pro-Pentagon, pro-Wall Street, pro-drilling, pro-fracking, pro-KXL, pro-surveillance. And the only person he prosecuted for the U.S. torture program is the man who revealed it. Clinton: More of the same.

wants to destroy Palestine.  Netanyahu publicly said they will NEVER have a state, and then this:

When Knesset Deputy Speaker calls for Ethnic Cleansing, and annexing all of Gaza:

"Gaza, it will become part of sovereign Israel and will be populated by Jews. This will also serve to ease the housing crisis in Israel. The coastal train line will be extended, as soon as possible, to reach the entire length of Gaza."

It is a call for the destruction of Palestine, and there is not a hairs breadth between that and Hamas' wish to have all of Israel.
