I would argue that  media coverage of I/P conflicts are different then any other conflict and we get exposed on a daily basis how many Palestinian civilians are  injured or killed by Israelis. Can anyone tell me  how many civilians have been injured and killed in Ukraine in the past 6 months?

Can  anyone remember during the 2003-2008 timeframe how many Iraqi civilians were killed on a daily basis, complete with video of  the results of rockets and  US forces going after iinsurgents in Bagdad?

It is only the I/P conflict where we get this type of war coverage. The loss of life is deplorable on any level, but as for the rant by  this pundit that  the Media is biased against the Palestinians, I say hogwash.

    •  by 'this pundit' do you mean me? Wasn't sure. (0+ / 0-)

My point is that in U.S. political dealings the Palestinians are a group that we unfortunately have to deal with.  And that does come across into the media.  Yes, we do see many scenes of destruction in Gaza.  But I don't think that overrides the fact that we don't really accept them as all even remotely like us in the first place.

I did a cut and paste job  from my comment in another diary and  did not pick up the reference to the pundit that went off on MSNBC. In no way  did i mean you in that context. My purpose was to  highlight my opinion that I/P  conflicts are treated differently in the media then other conflicts such as the Ukraine and the US conflict in  Iraq and Afghanistan/Pakistan for that matter.

        •  ah, ok. Yes, you're right--there is some sort of (0+ / 0-)

cause celebre type of spotlight that gets shined on the I/P conflict as a focal point of world conflict.  I don't think this is just, either.  Although I guess it's not particularly surprising..

    •  you're right though--i did say Media.. I mean (0+ / 0-)

more the gov't--but I think it does come into the media.  They're just 'poor people over there', while Israel is seen as 'one of us'.

      I'd like that to change.

or we would have seen more on this story:

700 killed in Syria in 48 hours last week.  I heard NOTHING about it.

    •  The count of casualties in Ukraine is not (1+ / 0-)

particularly accurate but it's somewhere in high hundreds. Not counting the plane, of course.
