  •  Disposable (6+ / 0-)

McDonalds regards the people there as being disposable.  Their children are mere distractions.  The right doesn't want this woman to have children at all unless by some miracle she's capable of guaranteeing the child's welfare at all times and in all circumstances at the lowest possible rate of pay.

No they want her to work for nothing and live alone until she dies.  In fact they want that for all but the very wealthy.

This is another, tiny indicator of how barbaric and cruel our country is becoming.

    We boycott McDonalds.

In a few weeks fast food workers from across the country will convene to organize a new union.  Perhaps that will help.

Given all of this, must we continue to listen to the prattle about caring about families and children in this country?  It is a lie.

The biggest myth in this country is the belief in family. We HATE our families beyond the nuclear family in this country. We move away from them as quick as we can and only endure them occasionally on special occasions. You may say differently, but our whole culture supports that attitude.

children.  At least, the religious wing does.  They want women and girls to reproduce constantly, without regard to family or financial circumstance, without regard to personal wishes, without regard to income.

And then they want to fund nothing to help take care of kids -- schools, daycares, Medicaid, food stamps, nothing.

If you're asking how these two perspectives mesh, don't worry -- they actually do make sense.

When you realize that their true perspective is that women are slightly-less-than-human-babymakers, and that any who doesn't manage to snag a high-earning husband (who does not leave, divorce, or die), or who doesn't feel like being a full-time stay-at-home "Mommy" as her entire identity, is a Whore.

Am I being hyperbolic?  Not really.  Lots of Republican policies make perfect sense if you look at them through the perspective of wanting to punish women (for being poor, for having sex, for wanting fair pay, etc.).
