Best damn article I've read in a long time about President Obama.  I've read many similar to it, but this guy just slams with eloquent realism and I enjoyed reading every word!

    The best worst president ever

“Obama is the worst thing to ever happen to this country,” declares the wealthy, rakish, silver-haired Newport Beach white guy to his small group of perfectly tanned 50-something females sitting just a few feet away from us at a stunning restaurant patio overlooking the sun-kissed California coastline, just off of Highway 1, as he sipped his pinot and adjusted his wraparound Ray Bans, flush from the economy’s spectacular recovery that has benefitted his exact demographic most of all, stroking his purebred dog and taking various selfies with their $500 phones, oblivious to the furious swirls of irony and hypocrisy fluttering just above their heads.

I laughed out loud. Couldn’t help it; [...]

Yeah, reading this made my day!

at the Tampa Bay Times but one of my favorites that writes flowing and blisteringly smart commentary on elected officials, mostly in Florida, is Daniel Ruth.  I used to call him a lot with ideas and praised the heck out of him with his writing abilities.  He often writes about Rubio and Scott, but regardless of knowing the characters or not, his columns are worth reading for "oh yeah, I wish I could write like that".

I went to college knowing that our high school English preparation sucked (even though I was an "A" student) and sure enough, aced my biology/chemistry base and worked double hard for B's in the mandatory English/writing classes.

today.  Back in the good old days, in the late 1950s, we had to learn to parse sentences.  We had to know the names of the parts of speech and we had to learn to recognize words belonging to each part.

We had to know a lot more than that, too.  And we had to KNOW it, not just memorize it.  We got it done because our teachers didn't have to deal with disruptive students, classrooms had only 30 students in them, and students were allowed to help each other learn.
