  •  Dehumanizing people (16+ / 0-)

was step 1 in making it OK to kill them when I was in the military.  And judging by what a certain segment of the population in saying here in Texas, I think they would support shooting these refugees at the border. Sick fucking bastards.

    •  This week's issue of Newsweek (10+ / 0-)

Newsweek has an issue on 'Hunting Humans".  It interviews and follows ranchers in Brooks County, Texas that hunt down illegal aliens for kicks.  One woman admits it's the most fun she ever had.

      •  That is so sick! (9+ / 0-)

I cannot imagine a human being who would publicly admit to such despicable behavior.  People like this sick fuck are why this country has slid so far down the rat hole that we may never find our way out again.

"...“I will do everything in my power to send them back,” she says, sitting down at a wooden picnic table near the house. Ranchers like BJ see themselves as the first line of defence against migrants. Before calling “the boys”, as she refers to the Border Patrol agents who make up the vast majority of her social circle, BJ says she goes on a “manhunt”.

“It’s a cat-and-mouse game,” she says with a grin, driving through ranch trails. She starts by looking for footprints – they are most noticeable on the sand tracks she has set up next to the trails which she smooths by dragging tires. When she sees a fresh set, she speeds through the trails, finds the migrants, chases after them until they tire out, corners them and then yells, “Pa’bajo!” – Spanish for “down”.

What if they resist? She smiles and says that is one question too many. Her Heckler & Koch P2000 pistol rests in the cup holder next to her right knee. “You can’t tell me this isn’t fun,” she says, chewing dipping tobacco and spitting its juice out into an empty plastic water bottle, “more fun than shopping and looking at sights.” As she came up to a yellow road sign that read “Caution”, she pointed out the figures of running people she had drawn on it to make her friends laugh...."

who go "hunting immigrants" - it makes me want to force them off their lands, and turn them into refugees. They have no idea of what that is like.

          •  This 'hunting' got me thinking (0+ / 0-)

at what point does it become lynching? I am not saying it has reached that point, yet, I hope. But when we have people, and possibly groups of people, 'hunting' other people, taking the law into their own hands, and possibly committing murder, where is that line? The anti-immigration protesters are getting more and more vocal, and aggressive it seems. From the article it looks like they've moved on from deportation to possibly execution. After reading several definitions of the word lynching, that it would involve murder in the public square. Which we haven't seen that I'm aware of. Or they just haven't posted videos of yet on YouTube. But I am left wondering if this despicable practice is on their minds and ready to make a come back.
