The Keystone decision rests on the Secretary of State ( I mean Obama ultimately of course, but its a State Dept matter)

There is a very strong tradition (of which someone should alert Dick Cheney) that former office holders DO NOT jump into public discussion about the issues and decisions currently being handled by their successor.

She can't play that card on general public policy issues like Marriage Equality, Drug Reform, Income Inequality, Campaign Finance, SCOTUS decisions, etc.  And I think it would be weak to use it dodge long standing issues like the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, US role in Middle East, etc.

But on this, if she said something it would look like either "talking out of school" about things that went on while she was in office or would be seized by advocates as an attempt to paint Obama/Kerry into the corner.

She hasn't been coy about it.  She has just said "I am not going to comment on this".

has been quietly implementing work-arounds so that the pipeline isn't as much an issue to them anymore, and the tar sands will be exploited as much as previously feared regardless.

Doesn't mean I don't still oppose the pipeline to the very depth of my soul, just evil and money seem to find a way.

...exploitation of tar sands. So expect some vigorous opposition to oil trains if Keystone XL is rejected.

        •  When HRC was SoS, she hired a firm to do KXL EIS (0+ / 0-)

that was secretly bought and paid for by TransCanada, IIRC.

BTW, what is the record for acronyms in a subject line (LOL)?
